This is where I impart the most memorable and treasured experiences I had during the course of this beautiful and amazing life I have now. If I die soon, I will be thankful that I was able to experience all these things before I could totally leave this planet...
[First crafted back in 2010, only posted it later on]
One day when I was home, I was watching MTV when I suddenly came across this certain music video which appeared brand new to me. I was really shocked because I have known of this band in this music video for a long time, but they have not released a new song for a long time as well, and so I all thought they are not totally making music any longer, but here: they have a new song.
Kings and Queens. That is the title of the song being played in this music video. And this band I was referring to earlier is the one called 30 Seconds to Mars.
The music video is awesome! Well basically it is just a depiction of a huge group of people riding bicycles from the beginning of the video towards the end. Heh, it appears nonsense, doesn't it? But true enough, it is just that one cannot easily recognize that there is a hidden message behind such depiction aforementioned which is truly beauteous and highly significant.
I have been thinking about this for so long until I have proven myself I am right; This song, as well as the music video intended for it, is an advocacy in order to address one of the major problems not only the Philippines alone is currently facing, but rather the whole world - Global Warming. In other words, this is an environmental advocacy.
From my own perspective, I will attempt to explain how related this song as a whole is with global warming by itemizing each portion of the music video which I find noteworthy and striking because it may contain underlying important messages that need to be extracted which all aim to inform the audience about crucial matters.
=+ At 0:34 - 0:38, the video presents a completely reddish sky behind the buildings. This scene may indicate the reality that the level of seriousness regarding pollution of the environment (which is also a contributing factor to the warming of the Earth and the destroying of nature) is of that severity already at present. As explained in Chemistry, light absorbs particles, and the amount of particles absorbed affects the intensity of the light. As an application, the red color of the sky especially visible during late afternoon is an indication of a tremendous pollution on the world by that time. During sunsets, the sun goes down. The resulting distance from a certain area directed by the rays of the sun to the position of the sun itself during sunset is the total path length of light from the sun which if we try to picture out the situation, shall be greater than the path length when the sun is still at a high altitude by noontime to early afternoon Therefore, much more amount of particles (ie. dirt from tremendous smoke emitted by vehicles or from industrial houses from morning til dusk) are absorbed by the light from the sun resulting to the more intensified red color of the sky. In other words, red sky is a sign of pollution. The redder it is, the worse is the level of pollution. And in the video, it shows a tremendously-polluted environment.
=+ At 0:39 - 1:09, a group of approaching people riding bicycles is seen. And they will be seen on most parts of this music video. At first, I was still really wondering why on Earth despite the many other vehicles that can possible be rode on by these people, BICYCLE was the one chosen to be used for this music video. Well there you go. There lies its most significant message - to be able to persuade everyone in this planet to frequently use BICYCLES instead as their means of transportation today because a bicycle does not ever emit pollution to the surroundings. Meanwhile people driving all these cars and sorts are merely show offs and displays on the roads. No matter how fancy or luxurious their vehicles may be, no matter how much people spend for them - they are all the same exasperation to the environment due to the fact they all similarly emit smoke anyway, and these smokes contain Carbon which mainly causes the heating of the planet as Carbon particles have the ability to absorb heat from the sun. By adopting such idea to use more of bicycles, somehow we are able to contribute to the combat to lessen at least, if not really fully eradicate, global warming which is the main cause of climate change, or the frequent and sudden changing of weather conditions which has been the main culprit for the abrupt arrival of numerous strong typhoons in the Philippines resulting to the horrible vast fatality and the increasingly severe poverty suffered by so many Filipino families as they lose their homes and their livelihood.
=+ That portion at 3:26 - 3:28 is also noteworthy wherein there is this man throwing something. It may not be real, but that thing can be considered a product containing Chlorofluorocarbon o CFC which destroys the ozone layer. The ozone layer, take note, is the one responsible for controlling the level of heat being transmitted by the sun to the Earth. This part of the video implies such message to avoid the usage of these products in our daily lives - just throw these!
=+ At 3:53 - 3:59, this is the part wherein one of the bicyclers is hardly bumped by a car which is a kind of vehicle. Then at 4:17 - 4:21, there is a unanticipated presentation of a white horse likely approaching the bumped cyclist who is lying on the ground still looking unconscious. The arrival of that horse may signify the happening of death. Accorded to this part are the lines in the song that say, ""The age of man is over. A darkness comes and all." What is implied here is the idea that due to the negligence and ignorance of human towards being concerned about the environment, they shall all deserve the same fate in return - death in this world, which was effectively illustrated by the consecutive typhoons that came to the country just recently. The reason behind the happening of these serious and terrible floods leading to the death of many people is by itself the deliberate disregard of the victims of these floods themselves - just simply by their act of not throwing or disposing their garbage properly, thereby causing the continuous clogging of the canals which shall supposed to aid in sipping the water so the rising of water level will always be prevented. At this end, probably many have already learned and enticed to somehow care for the environment. Here now goes the lyrics of the song that say, "These lessons that we've learned here have only just begun."
=+ But at 4:40 - 4:47, the unconscious cyclist earlier went back to consciousness, rising up and continues to cycle with his bike together with his original company since from the beginning of the video. This part conjures the idea that there is still hope for people to save the nature from its gradual deterioration. The sinking in the water of all land areas comprising the planet caused by the total melting of ice in the the world's polar regions as a horrifying result of global warming, can be stopped from happening if only the entire human race will cooperate with one another in order to reduce global warming. And then what is depicted towards the end of the music video starting from 5:39 wherein everyone in this group of bicyclers are shouting their hearts out altogether while still cycling, is just a representation of a that huge remaining hope of the people to save the world as long as they will remain communicated towards one common objective - to join hand in hand in taking care of the environment, particularly the continuous fight against global warming. At 5:31 - 5:37 are different faces of people. Meaning, no matter what the state of life is, no matter what race, EVERYONE on Earth can participate in this huge movement.

I have not quickly realized it but true enough, the members of this American band are what are called environmental advocates, or those people acting to address the present complications relating to the environment. This type of people, I must say, deserves to be idolized. They create music which is by itself their passion, not only to be able to do what they want, but also to be able to help to this world as a whole. I truly am hopeful, especially during these times wherein the world is nearly tearing apart, that across the globe there could be more and more of them ---
